Story: Sponsored by Debt is my favorite perfume, which is exactly why it has the moral character of a beautiful financial mistake; it opens with grapefruit, lemon, mint, bergamot, pink pepper, aldehydes, and coriander , bright, clean, sharp, almost violently put-together, like a man walking into a room in a crisp shirt while his credit card quietly screams from inside his wallet — then ginger, nutmeg, jasmine, and melon come in with this strange fresh-spicy charm, the kind that makes you believe he has his life sorted when in reality he is one minor inconvenience away from ordering biryani on EMI; the base is where it becomes the gold standard for me: incense, amber, cedar, sandalwood, amberwood, patchouli, and labdanum, all smoky, woody, warm, balsamic, and slightly powdery, like a temple, a boardroom, a bachelor apartment, and a very expensive bad habit somehow agreed to share rent; I love layering this with oud because oud gives it the darkness, the gravity, the “yes I have suffered but my collar still sits well” energy it deserves, and while I’ll be honest , it is a tad expensive to make and does not last as long as a perfume with this much attitude should , the notes are so fantastic that I forgive it like one forgives a toxic ex with excellent taste in music; to me, this is the perfect men’s perfume, not because it is loud or beast-mode or trying to impregnate an elevator, but because it smells like ambition after a breakdown: fresh enough to face the world, smoky enough to admit the world is rigged, and expensive enough to make you whisper, “I shouldn’t,” while already reaching for the bottle.
